Voting
Make Your Voice Heard!
This is an important community decision for the future of our students and schools. The operating levy referendum will appear on the November 3, 2026 general election ballot.
There are three ways to vote:
-
Early voting via absentee ballot begins Friday, September 18, 2026.
To have an absentee ballot mailed to you, complete a Minnesota Absentee Ballot Application.
Once you receive your ballot in the mail, you can fill it out and return it to your County Election office.
You can either mail your completed ballot back or physically drop it off at your County Auditor-Treasurer’s office — either the Becker County Courthouse (915 Lake Ave., 2nd floor, Detroit Lakes), or the Hubbard County Government Center (301 Court Ave., Park Rapids).
Completed ballots must be received by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, to be counted.
-
This is similar to voting at your polling place on Election Day. When you arrive at the early voting location, you will complete a short certificate, receive your ballot and vote it there, then return your completed ballot into the ballot counter.
When: October 16 - November 2 during regular office hours: Monday-Friday, 8am - 4:30pm. Extended hours will be offered in the final days before Election Day.
Where: Your County Auditor-Treasurer’s office — either the Becker County Courthouse (915 Lake Ave., 2nd floor, Detroit Lakes), or the Hubbard County Government Center (301 Court Ave., Park Rapids).
-
Vote at your regular polling place between 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Election Day: Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
Register to vote before November 3 and save time on Election Day.
If you forget to register, Minnesota allows same-day voter registration.
